The police are interrogating former member of the State Duma Aleksandr Gluschenko as part of the investigation into the murder of Aleksandr Sobchak, a businessman from St Petersburg and allegedly a cousin of late mayor of St Petersburg Anatoly Sobchak.

Aleksandr Sobchak was killed somewhere near the restaurant of Kolyma casino in 2001, the Russian Mafia (rumafia.com) reports. In 2002 a dead body was discovered in the Vsevolozhsk District of the Leningrad Region. In 2002 it was identified as that of Aleksandr Sobchak with the probability of 90%.

The investigators said that it was too early to formulate indictment. Earlier the police opened criminal case against former member of the State Duma Mikhail Gluschenko. He is accused of the triple murder (former member of the State Duma Vyacheslav Shevchenko, his business partner Yury Zorin and interpreter Valentina Tretyakova). Now the police may attach the Aleksandr Sobchak murder file to Gluschenko’s case.

Sobchak and Gluschenko might have had conflict over Glushenko’s debt which he refused to pay off in time. Rumour has it that at the end of 2001 Aleksandr Sobchak was lured to Kolyma casino where murderers suffocated him. His body was hidden in the forest in the Leningrad Region.

So far, the first interrogation has stopped after Gluschenko had sudden increase in blood pressure.
